Quickly Noted: The Audits Keep On Rolling In

September 17, 2007

14668284_7dd644d865 Last week we focused on the management and mission failures at DHS, today is all money.  According to the AP, DHS (and DOD, but that’s a whole different animal) has again failed to meet even basic accounting requirements set forth by the Federal Financial Management Improvement Act of 1996.  This is the fourth year in a row that DHS has failed.  According to the AP:

the two departments’ financial records are so disorganized and inconsistent that they have repeatedly earned ”disclaimer” opinions, meaning that they simply cannot be fully audited.

Too bad to even audit?  As they say in the movies, “Confidence is high.”
