Quickly Noted: It’s In The Mail
In the event of a bioterror attack, plans have been set at the federal, state and increasingly at the local government levels to distribute antibiotics to the public. Making sure that everyone gets what will quickly be called, “The Cure,” is, in three words, an unmanageable disaster. God forbid it ever comes to that.
In anticipation of avoiding that scenario, Philadelphia tested a plan to have postal workers deliver meds to households, as opposed to having the citizenry come in and pick up their own meds earlier this summer. I talked about the effort in this post.
I just found out that Boston is running a similar test this weekend. Article here. The effort will attempt to deliver 23,000 simulated bottles of meds in one day. I wish the planners, postal carriers and police the very best of luck and hope everything goes as well as it did here.
