Quickly Noted: Morris v. Westfield

February 16, 2010

If you don’t follow Jonathan Bernstein’s great blog and newsletter on crisis communication (first of all, for shame!), then you might not have heard about an ongoing lawsuit where a woman, Kay Morris-Robertson, is suing her employer for what I can only call an amazing situation. Ms. Morris-Robertson suffered a terrible loss and was subsequently committed to a psychiatric institution for the PTSD she was suffering. The entire situation is kind of surreal, and Jonathan’s consulting firm has been hired to present Ms. Morris-Robertson’s side of the story.

The reason I present these links to you is because it is an evolving situation that has a ton to do with each of our crisis communications efforts. This is a case study in the use of traditional and new media to build an PR effort, being executed in real time. You can see the website that Jonathan’s group set up on the case here.
