I've been seeing a few things online about folks showing up at EDs with flu-like symptoms and some people are interpreting that as the start of a third wave of H1N1 influenza. Time will tell, but be aware that some people are starting to talk about it.
Alright, so we keep talking about how government agencies need to gain the trust of our communities so they'll follow our recommendations. In the same breath, we declare that social media will be that silver bullet that will make everyone believe what we say and will allow our response/outreach/efforts to succeed beyond our wildest dreams.
Turns out there's some research into how that actually happens. Take note and maybe your next response will be met with open ears and not wary eyes.
Besides hearing Secretary Sebelius speak, Dr. Frieden speak, Dr. Reynolds speak, a dozen or so different sessions, the chance to meet YOU, and king cake, the thing I missed the most about not attending the 2010 Public Health Preparedness Summit was the chance to tour the CDC's Marcus Emergency Operations Center. Here's a quick tour via blog.
