Quickly Noted: Hospital Preparations for Pandemics

April 9, 2010

The fine folks at the Mississippi Hospital Association’s Office of Emergency Preparedness run this great little blog called Prepared, Trained, Informed. They pass along information relevant to hospital preparedness pretty regularly and always have good stuff.

Recently, they posted on a four-step checklist that CDC and HHS/ASPR developed to help hospitals get ready for a reoccurrence of pandemic H1N1 influenza. The four steps include

  • protect and prepare hospital staff;
  • implement plans to address patient care issues and hospital operations;
  • address equipment and supply needs;
  • and provide for security

And you know what? Even if you don’t use these to get ready for another wave, these are great points to consider when reevaluating rewriting your hospital’s pandemic response plan.
