Quickly Noted: Malaria on the Rise?

June 2, 2010

There was a really interesting post recently in the dotEarth blog from the New York Times on global warming and the spread of malaria. The gist of the article is that research has not borne out the migration of malaria to colder climes due to global warming.

This is something I’ve discussed before here, not specifically about malaria, but instead about dengue and WNV.

It’s an interesting theory, and one that at the very least passes a sniff test or two. Time will tell if these early observations bear out, or if the mosquito really does move north.
